Saving Lives Through organ donation registration!
After touring British Columbia in 2016 to promote organ donation registration to mark her 10 year Liver Transplant Anniversary, Amanda Poch and Guy Lapierre decided to celebrate their marriage in 2017 by establishing the Live Then Give Fund.
Recognizing that many individual, organizations and groups are working hard to meet the many challenges faced by individuals within the Transplant Community, the fund seeks to provide micro funding for grassroots projects designed to deliver results to show Canadians that organ and tissue donation saves lives. Each small step brings us closer to solutions.
We respect the hard work being done every day by researchers, larger non-profits and health professional and are not looking to reproduce their efforts. We focus on providing organizational recommendations, background materials and other support for attempts of change. We have powerful speakers available for your Company meeting, school presentations, political advocacy and Proclamation Orders. Contact us to help make your idea for change a success.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.

Meet, Kathleen 💚
In May of 2022, Kathleen remembers laying in a hospital bed being told to her get affairs in order, scared that she didn't have much time left on this earth. However, Kathleen's strong will and love for life was NOT going to let that happen.
"At that time I didn’t believe that was going to be how my story was going to end. I had things to do. I needed to watch my two daughters graduate university, start their careers, get married and have their own children one day. I also had a list of places to travel with my husband."
Kathleen needed both a kidney transplant and a liver transplant. She needed a miracle...
In March 2023, that miracle was answered by the selflessness and generosity of a complete stranger. Because they choose to be an organ donor, Kathleen received a Kidney and Liver Transplant." I am and will be forever grateful for the gift of life, and I am now living life to the fullest" says Kathleen of Toronto, Ontario.
Since the transplants, Kathleen has had many life fulfilling adventures. Some which include the 600+ feet City Climb in New York City while harnessed and leaning out - over all of New York, travelled to Nashville and Boston, indoor skydiving and the Edge Walk on the top of the Toronto CN Tower.
"I have also taken great action to show my appreciation as the words ‘thank you’ don’t seem enough.
I am a volunteer member of the Trillium Gift of life, educating and bringing awareness of the importance and impact of organ and tissue donation. I am also a Transplant Ambassador where I am available to talk to others about my experiences about dialysis and transplant. I just recently did the 5Km Kidney Walk raising awareness of the importance of organ donation registration and kidney disease.one of my next projects is to help organize Green Shirt Day in my community."
Kathleen is forever grateful of the greatest hero she has never met, the organ donor who saved her life
Thank you Kathleen for sharing your incredible story with us. You are, and will always be, a true warrior!

A member of our community, a friend or family member, needs the Gift of Life, and you can help!
I am writing on behalf of Lih-Ming Tam, a dear friend of mine for over 35 years. Lih is experiencing chronic kidney failure. Not as well known as heart disease or cancer, chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects 1 in 10 Canadians. The best treatment available for Lih-Ming is to receive a kidney from a Living Donor through transplant. A procedure that has been done in Canada since 1952. For more information see link below.
The history of renal transplantation in Canada: A urologic perspective - PMC (nih.gov)
You may have seen Lih-Ming recently and are surprised by this request. The reality is that you can suffer the loss of 80 percent of kidney function and still look, and feel temporarily, “normal”. Lih-Ming has been working diligently with his team to control his CKD through diet, exercise, and medications but these measures will not continue to work. He will need further medical intervention. I am working with his medical team to assist anyone who wishes to help him.
Many of you may already know me but the most relevant things that I wish to share is that I am a kidney transplant survivor who received the gift of life from my sister almost fourteen years ago. Both of us continue to do well as many Canadians naturally only have one kidney enjoy healthy lives.
Here is a video that provides you the step by step process:
If you would like to discuss why Lih-Ming needs a Living Donor, the process of donation or any questions that you may have please do not hesitate to contact me at 778-995-2000 or by email at Guy@LTGCanada.com.
Festive food and fun with ambassadors and our biggest supporters while promoting organ donation registration.
Our sponsors at Acumen Capital Partners where kind enough to invite us to their Christmas luncheon in December 2021! Such a great day with amazing people! The meal and goodies where so delicious - hats off to the chef at http://www.christinecatering.com/menus.html
Everyone was very accommodating in making sure our immuno-compromised attendees where safe and happy; as they had sanitizer stations, masks and a mandatory vaccination request.
We continue to be very grateful for Acumen Capital Partners and their undoubtedly support to the transplant community! We will continue to support how organ and tissue donation saves lives!
